Mobile marketing made simple

FAQs

What is Bluetooth?

Bluetooth is a short range radio communication standard that allows the transmission of messages to Bluetooth enabled devices such as mobile phones.

What type of content can I send via Bluetooth?

Anything from text and image based files such as jpegs and gifs, video clips and mp3s, through to sophisticated applications like games, mobile brochures and event guides, can be sent using Bluetooth.

Can any mobile phone receive content via Bluetooth?

All new handsets are equipped with Bluetooth. A handset will need to have Bluetooth both 'turned on' and set to 'visible to other devices' to receive content. However due to the use of in car hands free kits many users now choose to always leave bluetooth switched on. Bluetooth is also used to swap photos and music. However some users will need to be prompted to do so as part of your campaign.

How far can Bluetooth content be transmitted?

The maximum range of transmission to consumer handsets is 100-150 metres. However environmental issues such as walls and ceilings etc will impact on overall transmission distances.

How do I send my content to Wigwag?

Bluetooth FAQs

Does the consumer pay to receive the content via Bluetooth?

The customer does not pay anything; it is free to receive information and content via Bluetooth.

Does Bluetooth comply with Privacy Laws?

Yes, Bluetooth marketing is an opt-in service and as such it is exempt from the legislation that covers SMS and email. Bluetooth broadcasting is very similar to other broadcasting technologies, such as using a mobile phone as an FM radio. Unlike SMS, messages are not sent to a personal address and therefore no personal information is collected. Furthermore the consumer must also "opt in" by accepting the content before it is downloaded to the phone. If a user declines the content they will not be offered that content again.

How do I see my results on a daily basis?
